Overview of climate model projections for communities across Manitoba showcasing risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities

About this event

Manitoba is made up of a variety of bioregions and unique geographies that invariably dictate how climate change variables are expressed for various communities and cities across the province. As such, it is important for professionals to understand how and why climate change will affect regions differently and what are some of the anticipated outcomes that should be accounted for in developing future works.

Participants in Manitoba’s Changing Climate will learn about the Climate Atlas of Canada; associated risks, vulnerabilities and opportunities across Manitoba; the difference between adaptation and mitigation strategies; and how to apply climate variables in decision making processes.

This course seeks to expose participants to the challenges faced by Manitobans in adapting/adjusting to new climate norms and how those differences present through visualization tools.

Prerequisite: It is recommended that partipants first attend 'Climate Change 101' on November 4th or else have an understanding of climate change basics
