"Purpose Over Pain"

Building Better Men Through Conversation, Connection, and Community

Pain is inevitable. We will experience it at some point in our lives, whether it be physical or emotional. It's just simply part of the package. The challenge arises, however, when we are faced with our pain and have to figure out how to navigate through it--especially when that pain is freakin' debilitating.

The truth of the matter is that pain isn’t pretty, but it is a powerful force for delivering us to the possibilities of who we are and propelling us to our highest commitments. Too often, we try to to eliminate or minimize pain, rather than find our way through it. And that’s because we tend to see pain as a problem to be fixed or avoided, rather than a transformative force to take us to the next level of personal mastery.

“Pain” shows up in all kinds of ways in our daily lives, and it doesn’t have to be monumental to be transformative. There are truths that need to be told, changes that must be navigated, disagreements that beg to be resolved, relationships with challenging people to be built, and “out there” ideas to be shared. We must help each other navigate through the discomfort in ways that produce positive results, both inwardly and outwardly. And what's an effective way to do this? Allowing yourself to be led by your purpose--the reason you came to be and what you came here to do.

The reason most people suffer (they actually suffer twice) is because they make their pain the #1 thing in their life. They make their lives revolve around it; therefore, it ends up becoming ALL they focus on and all they put their energy towards. When you make your PURPOSE the #1 thing in your life, the game changes. It doesn't mean the pain magically disappears, it just now moves to #2 (or #3 or #4) where you're still allowing it to do its job, and your purpose becomes the driving force and what you focus on. Your purpose can actually become what helps you navigate through the pain.

Whether you know what your purpose is or not, know that you have this option available to you. Discover what it is if you have no clue, and do the work. If you do know what it is, what are you waiting for? Remember, when you don't live out your purpose, you are actually robbing the world of something valuable--of your gift. The world needs whatever you have to offer. And if in pain, use it to fuel you. The purpose of pain is to move us into action--not to make us suffer.

By connecting men with high performing mentors and authentic content, we intend to create the space for the modern man to evolve and thrive. We do this by engaging men in powerful, authentic, and transparent dialogue designed to help them build a more authentic relationship with themselves and with other like-minded men and women.

Don Giafardino grew up in Byram, Ct. in a working class family where he learned to work physically hard at an early age and to also be comfortable doing without the things that others had. This might have set the stage for his future.

Although some may frown upon his work history, Don proudly speaks about the 42 jobs he has held since the age of 15. He believes that the each job experience that he gathered along the way is a contributing factor to his current business. Some of those former jobs were bar doorman, kennel cleaner, chef, custom motorcycle fabricator, crane operator, and cell tower climber. To illustrate his belief in valuing previous jobs, Don says, “If I overcame my fear of heights to be able to provide for my daughters, why would I fear starting a business I have little experience in?”

Don now owns and operates The Adex Developmental Company in Deerfield Beach which produces the Adex Adjustable Exercise Clubs & Maces - fitness tools for the functional exercise modalities. He began his journey into this field while rehabilitating a shoulder injury that lead him to develop an adjustable version of a heavy Indian Club. He now markets them exclusively on social media.
