Description

March: a perfect month for Making!

(Yes, yes, every month is a perfect month for making!)

TTL Kids! Is thrilled to be offering such an exciting array of workshops for Young Makers at our east-end location! We've covered all the basis: electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, and robotics.

Register for the whole week, for just robots, or for individual workshops ...

(If your Young Maker is registered for a full day, send them with a lunch and we’ll keep them occupied from 12 – 1 p.m.)

MONDAY

Level Up: 3D Modeling

Once your Young Maker knows the basics of 3D Printing, there’s a whole new world of creation to explore! In this workshop, Young Makers will create their own accounts with TinkerCaD – an easy, browser-based 3D design and modeling tool – to begin exploring the many things they can do. They will be guided through advanced design techniques, and given a design challenge!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Date: March 13, 2017

Time: 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Cost: $40

123D Make

123D Make lets Young Makers turn 3D models into 2D build plans with animated assembly instructions. Young Makers will use 123D Make to develop 2D plans for our laser cutter. Once cut, Young Makers will assemble their creations!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Date: March 13, 2017

Time: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Cost: $35

TUESDAY

Intro to Robots 1: Simple Bot

By starting with a ‘straightforward’ single-motor bot, Young Makers are introduced to a classic example of a Simple Bot. It is like a robot in many ways, but lacking in intelligence, and responsiveness. Nevertheless, bots like these are great springboards for jumping into the wild world of robotics. If your Young Maker can build this, they are a long stride towards building their first full-fledged robot.

Suitable for Young Makers age 9+

Date: March 14, 2017

Time: 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Cost: $55

Break-up to Make-up

Holy smokes! TTL Kids is partnering with The Repair Cafe to bring Young Makers a special edition of our Break-up to Make-up workshop. No one can deny that every Young Maker likes breaking things apart! How else are you going to see what’s going on in there? In this special workshop, Young Makers will have the opportunity to take electronics (that no longer work) apart and explore the inner working of machines but they’ll also learn about how it works, how to fix it, and how to put it back together again!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Date: March 14, 2017

Time: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Cost: $35

WEDNESDAY

Intro to Robots 2: Inchworm

If we gave you a ruler, wheels, some tupperware, and a comb, would you think to make a robot? Yes? Super! In this workshop, Young Makers use virtually the same electronics as the Simple Bot to make an entirely different and more complex bot.

Pretty clever to use a ruler for the armature of an *Inch*worm Bot, hey?

Suitable for Young Makers age 9+

Date: March 15, 2017

Time: 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Cost: $55

Wood Derby Racers

Young Makers will work to design and craft their own unique derby racer out of wood. And, then, OFF TO THE RACES! May the best racer win!
This workshop is excellent for Young Makers who love working in the woodshop or for those interested in learning about the amazing world of power tools!

Suitable for Young Makers age 9+

Date:

Time: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Cost: $40

THURSDAY

Intro to Robots 3: Scoop Bot

Developing their repertoire further, Young Makers will make Scoop! A bot that does just that. It pushes itself around and systematically scoops up whatever lies in its path. Well... maybe "systematically" is too strong of a word to use in describing it, but it definitely gets an A+ for effort. If there is one thing that Scoop Bot wants to do more than anything else in this world, that is scoop. There is not a man, woman, ice cream server, or investigative journalist alive, quite as dedicated to scooping.

Suitable for Young Makers age 9+

Date: March 16, 2017

Time: 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Cost: $55

Wearable Tech

Sewing, circuitry, and creativity merge in this fun workshop where Young Makers design their very wearable tech, complete with LEDs!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Date: March 16, 2017

Time: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Cost: $40

FRIDAY

Mini DIY Pinball Machine Build

Is your Young Maker looking to make something fun and usable? In this workshop, Young Makers will design their very own mini, tabletop pinball machine! Working in our woodshop, they will work - under close supervision - to bring their design to life! Exciting stuff!

Suitable for Young Makers age 8+

Date: March 17, 2017

Time: 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Cost: $80
