As an entrepreneur though, how can you build on your experience to become a better manager when you have no one's example to follow? Charles Plant became an entrepreneur before he was 30 and had to learn to be a manager the hard way, by making mistake after lonely mistake. This Best Practices session outlines the seven things he wished he had known when he started managing and how he eventually learned them.
About the Speaker:
Charles Plant is the founder and chairman of Material Minds. He founded this management training company because he had run into one too many managers who were overworked, overwhelmed and armed with little management training. In a career spanning 30 years, Charles has coached over 1,000 managers. He spent four years at MaRS, leading a group of former entrepreneurs and specialists who provided education, mentorship, market intelligence and capital to over 2,000 technology startups. Prior to MaRS, Charles spent 15 years as co-founder and CEO of Synamics, a telecommunications software firm that provided mass calling platforms to telcos. Additionally, he has taught at York’s Schulich School of Business.
