About this Event

CTOs are critical to the success of any high-growth company. Scaling engineering teams, building across platforms, staying ahead of the latest trends, and so much more — the role is as much a juggling act as it is a heavy lift.

This October 8th, MaRS and Microsoft for Startups are turning the spotlight on some of the tech ecosystem’s top CTOs: Chad Fowler (GM of Microsoft for Startups) and Dessy Daskalov (co-founder and CTO of Nudge Rewards).

Topics of discussion include:

• Pivoting when faced with technical challenges;

• Scaling and structuring technical teams; and

• Building products across platforms in the face of rapid tech advancements.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

• CTOs

• Entrepreneurs

• Anyone interested in the startup ecosystem

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Chad Fowler (GM, Microsoft for Startups)

Chad is an author, developer, speaker and investor. As an early leader in the Ruby and Ruby on Rails communities, he co-founded RubyConf and RailsConf. He has served as CTO for multiple startups, most recently Wunderlist, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2015. He currently leads Microsoft for Startups, whose mission is to use Microsoft's many strengths to help startups scale.

Dessy Daskalov (Co-Founder and CTO, Nudge Rewards)

Trained as an engineer, Dessy spent her early career as a software developer leading major projects at Eloqua (acquired by Oracle in 2012) and The Working Group. At Nudge, she heads the scaling of the company’s tech, direction of the product, and growth of the team. Dessy frequently attends Toronto tech community events and is a contributing author of the book, 500 Lines or Less.
