About this Event

The Museums of Mississauga are proud to present an online talk with historian Matthew Wilkinson of Heritage Mississauga. Matthew will discuss historic Mississauga’s connections to the First World War, both overseas and on the homefront, and share stories about the fallen soldiers from our community.

Matthew Wilkinson has been the Historian at Heritage Mississauga since 2004, and has been with Heritage Mississauga as a member of staff since 2001. Matthew graduated from the University of Toronto Mississauga with a special focus on Ontario and Canadian History and Historical and Rural Geography. He is a 7th generation born and raised Mississauga resident. Matthew has an extensive background in local history and heritage research. In addition to his work with Heritage Mississauga, he is a citizen representative with the City of Mississauga’s Heritage Advisory Committee, and a supporter of several local historical societies. Matthew and his wife live in Mississauga with their two children.
