Event description

Description

Max Porter is the award-winning author of Grief is the Thing with Feathers. His new book Lanny is the story of a young boy, and his family, and the village in which they live. It is also the story of Dead Papa Toothwort, a mythical creation of childhood imagination, causing mischief in the village.

Effortlessly weaving domestic drama with fabulism, Porter returns to the page with this devastating, brilliant novel. Hear Porter discuss Lanny with Heather O'Neill.

Q&A and book signing to follow. Books available for purchase.

Please don't print your tickets! We're trying to reduce paper waste for Salon events, so please don't bother printing your ticket. We'll either either scan your ticket on your smartphone or quickly find your name on our tablets and check you in.

Arrive early, meet people. The talk starts at 7pm, but doors open at 6pm, so come early so you can chat with some of your fellow literature lovers, and make new friends. As with all Salon events, we'll have a full bar with a selection of beers, wine, and liquor, as well as sandwiches and snacks.

A note about tickets: As most Appel Salon events are free, it is our policy to overbook. In case of a full program, your ticket reservation may not guarantee admission. We recommend you arrive early.
