About this event

On Thursday May 19th come join Dr Glenn Kitteringham as he reviews the findings of the research he and Dr. Martin Gill completed in 2021 ‘The Competence of Front Line Security Professionals and what they say about their work’, commissioned on behalf of the International Foundation for Protection Officers. He will discuss the key findings and the practical implications from training, career planning and management perspectives.

Dr. Glen Kitteringham M.Sc., CPP has worked in the industry since 1990. He has worked as a loss prevention officer, uniformed security guard, supervisor, manager, director and for the past 12 years is the president of Kitteringham Security Group, Inc. He has completed over 500 projects for his clients on a variety of security, emergency response and management related needs.

He obtained a criminology diploma in 1992, various certificates in Security Management, Terrorism Awareness, General Management and Adult Learning over the past 25 years. He obtained his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation 2002, his Master of Science Post-Graduate degree in Security and Crime Risk Management in 2001 and his professional doctorate in Security Risk Management from the University of Portsmouth in 2018.

He was an adjunct instructor with the University of Calgary from 2008 to 2021 and with the Justice Institute of British Columbia since 2010. In addition, he has created more than 60 days of training content which he has delivered to clients in Canada, United States, Saudi Arabia, India and China. He has conducted research into ‘Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design’, ‘Laptop Theft Prevention’, ‘Offender Perspectives on Shoplifting’, ‘Practitioner Perspectives of the ABST’, ‘How Security Guards Manage Workplace Violence’, and ‘Security Officer Duties and Task Complexity’.
