The Ted Rogers MBA program invites you to join us for our upcoming Speaker Series events as part of the MBA Brand Management course (MB8402) with instructor Irene Berkowitz. The MBA Brand Management Speaker Series offers the public the ability to engage with industry thought leaders on topics ranging from branding to marketing, start ups, and beyond.

Mark Ebedes is the Founder & CEO of Pumped, and will speak on brand management on the ground.

"While studying part-time at York University where he graduated with a B.A. in Business & Communications, Mark founded MARK-IT Marketing Inc., specializing in Marketing and IT consulting, and new venture incubation. During his second and third years at York, Mark held the position of Marketing Manager for International Business Schools and the Toronto School of Business, Canada’s largest private career school chain.

Mark’s adventure at Clegg Campus Marketing began when MARK-IT Marketing was hired to sell Clegg’s direct marketing services and advertising media to national clients interested in reaching Canadian university and college students. Mark’s responsibilities at Clegg were expanded shortly thereafter when he was asked to start up a new internet marketing division. Mark supervised the creation and management of Clegg’s corporate site and CampusWorld.com, a Canadian university and college student internet community and portal offering utilities and services such as free webmail, chat rooms, discussion forums, contests, personals, and much more.

In 1999 MARK-IT Marketing Inc. incubated a digital music website called Music4Free.com, which specialized in free (but legal) MP3 music downloads, music industry news, hardware and software reviews, and much more. Music4Free.com generated over 1.4 million page impressions per month from over 350,000 unique global monthly visitors. In 2000, MARK-IT Marketing Inc. then incubated MusicGadgets.com, a leading e-commerce store specializing in online sales of MP3 Player Electronics and Accessories.

Predicting that the first “dot-com” era was soon to be categorized as the “dot-bomb”, Mark refocused his passion for marketing and sales towards more traditional and tangible promotional services, hence co-founding Pumped Inc. in 2001.

In February 2004, Mark completed the MBA Essentials for Managers program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Away from the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his kids (daughter and two sons), his family and friends, playing guitar, doing handy work around the house, and playing hockey and baseball."
