Event description

Description

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) invites you to attend the Treaties Recognition Week Film Screening on November 5, 2019, taking place at 315 Front Street, Toronto (Elm A boardroom) from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

In 2016, the Government of Ontario passed legislation to recognize the first week of November as Treaties Recognition Week in order to honour and increase awareness of the importance of treaties, rights and relationships to all Ontarians.

In celebration of Treaties Recognition Week, MCCSS and MTO have partnered to host an internal screening of "Six Miles Deep" by Sara Roque, provided by the National Film Board of Canada.

This film highlights Indigenous perspectives of the historic land dispute in the Haldimand Tract (Caledonia) followed by a facilitated discussion to provide the opportunity for staff to learn and promote constructive conversations in a safe environment for continued learning of Indigenous relations.

Please join us in person or via our regional hubs located across the province.

If your office is interested in running their own screening, please email mccss.icc@ontario.ca
