Description

Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. This workshop will cover the basics of organizing and cleaning your data in open refine, version control with Git, and managing and visualizing data in R.

Organized by

Jake Szamosi is a programmer and data analyst in the Farncombe Metagenomics Facility at McMaster University. She uses the Unix shell, Git and R in her work every day and is passionate about passing those skills on to as many researchers as possible.

Laura Rossi is a Research Technician in the Surette lab.  She splits her time between wet lab work (generating raw data) and dry lab work (processing those raw data into interpretable formats).  She enjoys learning new skills and teaching them to others.

Sharok is a Ph.D. student in the Surette lab. He spends most of his day playing with R, Unix shell, and Python to develop bioinformatics pipelines and analyze the bugs living in the human gut. Sharok is excited to share his skills and engage more researchers in bioinformatics.
