MCYU in the City BOOTCAMP/Facilitator Training 2017
Sat, 23 Sep 2017, 9:00 AM – Fri, 29 Sep 2017, 1:30 PM EDT
FACILITATOR ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY AT BOTH SESSIONS, IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN MCYU IN THE CITY PROGRAM.
MCYU in the City is a year-long community engagement initiative offered by the McMaster Children & Youth University.
We invite undergraduate and graduate students from all McMaster faculties to apply their research to public issues by creating and facilitating interactive workshops for children and youth in the Hamilton community. By engaging children and youth in innovative research, we strive to foster a love of learning and a recognition that they too can shape the world.
Ultimately, with this program, the McMaster Children & Youth University hopes to build a better future by investing in the intellectual capacities of youth. The program provides Mac students with training in community engagement, knowledge translation, and inquiry-based learning along with significant teaching and outreach experience - professional knowledge and skills that will strengthen any resume.
More than a professionalization program, MCYU in the City facilitators take on the crucial task of inspiring children and youth with their interactive workshops to become critical thinkers and knowledge-creators empowered by a love of learning and a sense of possibility.
