Medical Cannabis in Canada, May 1, 2017, Ottawa
Mon, 1 May 2017, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM EDT
For physicians only. Join the conversation as we discuss the potential role of cannabis in patients with pain and other chronic conditions. Understand cannabis pharmacology and its physiologic effects. Develop assessment, monitoring and risk reduction strategies for safe and rational perscribing, especially in patients already on opioids.
Guest Speaker - Dr. Jonas Vanderzwan, MD
Jonas Vanderzwan, M.D., currently splits his time between his busy family practice in south-western Ontario, and his work as the lead physician at the Canadian Cannabis Clinic in London. He assesses patients, referred by their primary care providers, with a wide spectrum of ailments for suitability for medical cannabis. Initially quite skeptical of the role of cannabis in patient care, Dr. Vanderzwan sought to learn as much as he could about this old yet new treatment. Lately, he has been traveling the province sharing his knowledge with both physicians and patient advocacy groups. The overarching goal is to provide patients with access to safe, reliable and informed care and improved patient outcomes.
Registration starts at 6:30 PM. Dinner and presentation at 7:00 PM.
