Event description

Description

What is the metaphor of the Labyrinth? Labyrinths are ancient symbols relating to wholeness. They are a metaphor for the journey of life and to the centre of your deepest self where you return back out into the world with new insights and understanding. Themes of Labyrinth work have strong parallels with psychedelic medicine journeying and practice, whereby some individuals experience truths and realities about themselves that can only be uncovered through deep personal exploration.

There has been a recent wave and influx of new information and research about psychedelic medicine work. With all of these articles, studies, and emerging evidence, it may be potentially daunting to discern mental health and healing benefits that can arise from these practices. Individuals who are curious about these medicines may ponder how to recognize their own readiness to work on personal and intrapsychic material that often comes up in non-ordinary states, whether through personal or spiritual psychoactive medicine use as well as with other transformative healing practices. Many people also question how mental health or mental illness affects and intersects with psychedelic use and spiritual development.

If you have experienced a particularly profound psychedelic, spiritual, or mystical process, you may have wondered about how to “do the work” afterwards. What is post-experience integration all about? Practices relevant to psychedelic-informed therapy will be outlined, including how to incorporate and focus on personal revelations, as well as a description of common trajectories faced by individuals undergoing psychospiritual emergence. This information will be shared from a therapeutic as well as a personal perspective, in order to help encourage participants in further navigating through the quest toward inner knowing, understanding, awareness, and acceptance.

This evening is open to anyone who has questions or curiousity about this interesting modality, whether you have any experience with this form of journeying, or if you are simply wondering what all of the hype is about. This will be a presentation-style event followed by questions and discussion.

“The Labyrinth is not a maze, built to confuse, but a single pathway winding to the centre and returning out again on the same path. The Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice of pilgrimage and self-discovery. The movement is a body prayer through the architecture of the soul. As we move to the centre, healing, transformation and the divine can be known.”
