Event description

Description

MedX Conferences are designed to be the ultimate medical preparatory experience. This conference features keynotes, workshops, group sessions, panelists and booths centered around a common theme: crafting excellent medical school applications and presenting yourself as an outstanding candidate.

This year's conference theme is "Finding Your Path Into Medicine" featuring workshops led by medical residents, doctors and prep companies with topics including 'Mastering the MCAT' and 'A Glance Into MMI Interviews'. Get inspired by talks from Dr. Prasaanthan Gopee-Ramanan, Resident Physician in Diagnostic Radiology at McMaster University and Dr. Paula Rochon, Geriatrician & Health Services Researcher at Women's College Hospital, who will share their insight and advice for those entering the world of medicine!

For the very first time, MedX Toronto is introducing interactive suturing workshops into our conference experience, in which students will learn hands-on skills that are essential in any medical professional's career. Our 'Medical Student Panel' will complete the preparatory experience by answering your questions regarding life in the different stages of a medical student and options avaliable after medical school.

Finally, check out the opportunities fair taking place during lunch, where delegates will be able to make connections with organzations that offer them application prep resources and volunteer opportunities such as MD Consultants, The Princeton Review, International Medical Schools, and more!

Don't miss out on this unique and informative event, get your tickets while they last! Tickets typically completely sell out within 1-2 weeks.

NOTE: Our new Diversity in Medicine initiative provides up to 10 students from the following backgrounds with full costs of conference admission: Indigenous, Black African, Black Caribbean, Black North American. Students residing in Rural areas, or identifying as being from Low-Income backgrounds may also apply. To apply, please find the form here and complete it no later than October 20th, 2017: https://goo.gl/forms/7QCF3eGReqX6kgkS2

FAQs

My university offers many medical school preparatory sessions. What makes MedX Conferences different?

Our conference is your one-stop-shop for all things medical admissions. Rather than a series of disjointed seminars on various admissions related topics, we bring together all the information, resources and connections you need to craft an excellent application into one space. Being an event unaffiliated with any school, our delegates also get the chance to network with students and doctors from universities across the province.

Is this event only for University of Toronto students?

This event is open to students from any post-secondary institution in Canada! We have two additional conferences happening in the GTA at both McMaster and Western University, which will also be open to students from any school. Further conferences across Canada can be found on the MedX Canada page.

What is included in my ticket price?

A single admission ticket to MedX Toronto includes access to all keynotes, workshops, panels and booths, as well as refreshments throughout the day. Lunch is NOT included. There are many lunch options available on campus as well as on Bloor Street, located just outside the building. We are a not-for-profit organization, and thus our ticket prices are kept to the absolute minumum.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes, proof of enrollment in a post-secondary academic institution will be required upon entry, such as a student card or a university distributed bus pass. The ID must have your full name, as well as a photo on it. There is no age limit, although attendees must be in an undergraduate/graduate program at time of registration.

Is there a dresscode for the event?

Suggested dresscode for all delegates and speakers is business casual.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

OISE can be found directly outside the St. George TTC station, and limited paid parking is available.

What should I bring to the event?

Feel free to bring notepads, waterbottles, snacks, and whatever you may need throughout the day. Please note that food and drinks are not allowed in the workshop rooms or auditoriums.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Tickets to MedXToronto are non-refundable and non-trasferrable. Each delegate will be recieving customized nametags and schedules, and so a transfer of ticket will result in the ticket becoming invalidated.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can contact MedX Toronto team at toronto@medxcanada.org with any questions and concerns.
