Description

We thought we should get the Dutch together now we are all at the Probike/ProWalk/ProPlace conference in Vancouver. Therefore we open a Holland House, but for only one evening at Dudoc, in downtown Vancouver. Come and join us for food, drinks and four Dutch and Canadian speakers (+ the Dutch-Canadian moderator). There is only space for max 75 people, so reserve your free space quickly.

Province of Gelderland, Netherlands: Sjors van Duren

Nijmegen and Velocity 2017

Sjors Van Duren is the Program Director of the Velo-City 2017 Conference in Arnhem – Nijmegen. He works for the province of Gelderland as an advisor in the areas of traffic and transport. He is responsible for the development of an extensive network of fast cycling routes in the greater Arnhem – Nijmegen region with a total length of approx. 70 km. He works closely with local authorities and the national government in order to get broad (political) support for the development of the provincial cycling plans. He aims at developing and spreading knowledge on cycling; especially on the relation between spatial planning, land use and cycling. In 2014, he was elected as the ‘best civil servant’ of the Netherlands by the PM (Public Mission) magazine.

Moderator

Hans Moor - Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

The evening is moderated by Hans Moor, who not only works for the Dutch embassy in Ottawa, but also helped transform bike advocacy in the nation’s capital as the president of local bike advocacy group “Citizens for Safe Cycling”. Hans won multiple awards for his efforts in Ottawa and spoke for audiences from Vancouver to Halifax about the need for safe cycling infrastructure to increase the bike modal share.
