Moving to a new community is challenging and often isolating and lonely. New Westminster is a great community, full of welcoming and warm individuals, but it can be hard to meet new people. New Roots helps people moving to town create connections and really become part of this city that we love to call home.

What to expect at a New Roots Event?

We'll start with some conversation prompts to help you find common interests with other attendees. Then a short presentation about what this community has to offer. Next, some facilitated small group discussions to share information among each other followed by a Q and A period to get your questions answered. You can then stick around and socialize with other attendees to deepen your connections. 

Where and when will this take place?

Boston Pizza's Party Room, 1045 Columbia St, New Westminster, BC V3M 1C4 on June 20 at 7pm. Please try to be a couple minutes early so we can get you a name tag.

New Westminster is on the unceded territories of the Qayqayt First Nation and other Coast Salish peoples. Through generations of policy and erasure their contributions to and history on this land have been made invisible. New Roots commits to ongoing learning so we can strive to be part of repairing this heartbreaking piece of our community's history.

Cost?

There is no cost to attend the event. Each person will cover the cost of any food or beverages that they order. We also plan to have a few samples from the restaurant to nibble on.
