TEAL Manitoba presents an exciting Mini PD opportunity on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 5 - 8 pm:

Join us for an engaging and a valuable evening of ideas and suggestions for activities for EAL learners in the content areas presented by current teachers. They will address questions and concerns that EAL teachers face daily. Questions such as

  • How can we accommodate EAL students?

  • How do we identify the language needed for the lesson?

  • How do we adapt for the needs of the EAL learner in specific content areas?

Presenters:

  • Jodi Samms - Glenlawn Collegiate: Jodi will present her processes and activities for her EAL Math class, concentrating on Grade 9 and 10 outcomes.

  • Liz Teichroew - Fort Richmond Collegiate: Liz will discuss various teaching strategies, adaptations, and resources to meet the needs of EAL learners at High School.

  • Brent Schmidt - George Waters Middle School: Brent will talk about Play with Your Words - how a playful approach to literacy builds more than just language.

  • Cheryl Boguski - Fort Richmond Collegiate: Cheryl will present on aspects and resources in a Science 2E course with an emphasis on vocabulary and literacy.

A light dinner will be served at 5:00 with the session starting at 5:30.

TEAL Manitoba members - there is no charge for this event.

Non-members will be charged $10.00 at the session, to cover the cost of the food and supplies.
