Event Details

Mehmani means "guest" or "celebration of guests" and we invite you to join us for our annual celebration of our work, our impact, and your amazing contributions to empower women globally and educate youth locally.

The evening is being coordinated by an energetic group of Camosun College Hospitality Management students, who are all passionate about working with an organization that has such a strong presence in our community and an inspirational vision for the world.

In past years, Mehmani has been one of our most successful fundraisers, providing essential funding for our operations and grant programs. We hope you will join us for an evening of delicious food, unique and lively entertainment, a henna artist, spectacular auction prizes and, of course, some momentous celebrations together.

** Be aware that Street parking is limited for this venue, please plan ahead. Some possible parking structures and lots available are: On Johnson between Blanchard & Quadra Street, Save on Foods Memorial Center, Royal Athletic Park

The Didi Society

The Didi Society works to empower women globally through fair trade, and educate youth locally to be social justice change-makers.

We work with women's cooperatives in India and Guatemala, marketing their handicrafts under a fair trade model. Not only does this partnership empower these women economically, providing them with an independent income that is more than the local industry, for a quarter number of hours, this partnership empowers these women socially and politically as we work with them to find new ways for them to educate themselves and train for new opportunities that they determine important.

Our education program trains youth and young adults to facilitate social justice workshops to other youth. These workshops are free of charge and focus on environmental sustainability, fair trade, gender equality and privilege and discrimination. We also host a Social Justice Youth Conference in March each year, and several short courses on these same topics.
