The Dutch Business Club Vancouver hosts a number of events each year that bring together professionals and entrepreneurs of Dutch heritage or with a connection to the Netherlands. These events either have a cultural, culinary or business theme, and for the most part are open events that everyone can attend.
And then there are those special events that are exclusive and people continue to speak about long after the event has finished. This October 11, 2019 is no exception. Our members have been invited at the residence of the Consul-General of the kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Henk Snoeken in Vancouver for a pleasant evening in a relaxed atmosphere with Dutch food, 'Meet & Greet' and an interesting guest speaker. Our guest speaker is Professor Dr. Maarten Hajer. Maarten Hajer is distinguished professor Urban Futures at the Utrecht University since October 2015. Before that he was professor of Public Policy at the University of Amsterdam and Director of the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL – Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving). He appeared last Sunday on the Dutch TV program "Buitenhof" where he talked about how The Netherlands must change drastically if in order to tackle rising sea levels in the future, which could even mean 'giving land back to the sea'.
