About this event
In August 2021, members of the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization (AHRDO) escaped horrific war conditions and Taliban oppression in Afghanistan to find peace and refuge in Canada.
Memories In A Box: Across Borders chronicles AHRDO’s 5-month journey, from Kabul to Canada, to resettle in Edmonton, Alberta. The film features intimate and secretive footage they recorded as they took unpredictable - and dangerous - steps across borders.
The 30-minute documentary screening will be followed by a panel-discussion and Question and Answer period with members of AHRDO and other human rights defenders, on making the film and the ongoing human rights violations taking place in Afghanistan and other parts of the middle east.
