Event description
A pop up dinner exploring flavours of Trinidad with local island ingredients

About this Event

Chef Kyle Roerick started cooking at a young age. His mother Jana Roerick of Jana’s Bake Shop was an early inspiration as well as his late father Marcus Dowrich who cooked the most epic foods from the Caribbean. Kyle started his career in Toronto, stopped to do some university for a bit, then moved to Montréal, and eventually France to work in kitchens following his culinary passion. Cooking in various regions of France was probably the most influential for Kyle, working directly with products from the garden, or producers in the various local markets. In 2017, Kyle started his kvrkitchen pop up project and has moved around working on various events, including his Summer Dinner Series here on Salt Spring. “I am super excited to announce my Memories of Trinidad pop up at the amazing Francis Bread on Salt Spring Island this November 10th at 5pm! This is a very special dinner for me as it’s my first dinner series on Salt Spring after the passing of my father, Marcus Dowrich, earlier this year. It’s in memory and in monument to a great man from Trinidad who saturated my life with the nourishing cuisine of the southern Caribbean isle and who inspired me to become the chef I am today. A mix of memories, family recipes, and adaptations, this food is sure to warm both hearts and bellies. Please join us at Francis Bread on November 10th.”

This event is BYOB. Vegetarian menus can be accommodated with ample notice.
