Qanuininnirmut Ikajuqtit (9807730 Canada Society) is pleased to collaborate with ilinniapaa Skills Development Centre (iSDC) to present the MHFA Youth certificate course in Whitehorse!

This Blended FLEX 2-day certificate course is key for anyone interacting with youth from frontline social services, health and recreation workers to justice, corrections and educators and is recognized nationally and internationally as an evidence-based best practice course in the field of mental health and recognized professional development.

Led by Helen Roos, a resident of Iqaluit, NU and Northern resident, this session will present the Mental Health First Aid for Adults who Interact with Youth course and crisis First Aid skills within the context of our Northern communities, with a focus on the following mental disorders as they relate to youth 12 to 24 years of age:

  • Substance use disorders
  • Mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Feeding and eating disorders
  • Deliberate self injury

Attendance for the full 2 days is mandatory to receive the certificate.

Instructor: Taught by Helen Roos, accredited MHFA Youth facilitator and is the Lead Facilitator with ilinniapaa Skills Development Centre based out of Iqaluit, NU. She is also an instructor for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), safeTALK, Insights Discovery, and many other accredited workshops and modules through her firm.
