About this Event
MHFA training can help you:
Increase your knowledge of mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and psychotic episodes).
Give you greater confidence and hands on experience to assist someone with a mental illness.
Trains you how to respond to someone who may be experiencing these conditions using set action plans and crisis intervention strategies
Decrease the stigmatized attitudes.
Improve mental health of participants
MHFA is a certified training program from the Mental Health Commission of Canada and is also part of The National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. This training program is highly praised and constantly growing. It is the only international mental health training program that is being delivered in 25 countries around the world.
What is included in the course:
MHFA training covers the following:
Substance disorders and crisis first aid for overdosing
Depression, bi-polar, and crisis first aid for suicidal behavior
Anxiety disorders and crisis first aid for panic attacks & acute stress episodes
Psychotic disorders and crisis first aid for psychotic episodes
Who can take Mental Health First Aid?
Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to take MHFA training. No prior training or knowledge on mental health is mandatory. If you have a family member, friend or colleague who is experiencing a mental illness, this course will give you the hands on experience in assisting them. We encourage human resource professionals, supervisors/managers and first responders to partake in this training.
