$199 + HST. Student rate is 175 + HST.

We build participant confidence to know how to help support a person developing a mental health problem, or experiencing a mental health crisis. Course taught by TEDxUW speaker and published author, Shawna Percy. Shawna is also a certified trainer in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training,), safeTALK, and The "ASK" Workshop (Assessing for Suicide in Kids 5-14.) Her lived experience and stories of Mental Health First Aid applied in the real world help bring this workshop to life.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including:
-substance related
-mood related
-anxiety and trauma related
-psychotic disorders

Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.

In the MHFA course, you will gain a solid understanding of the 5 basic actions of ALGEE:
-Assess the risk of suicide and/or harm
-Listen non-judgmentally
-Give reassurance
-Encourage professional support
-Encourage other supports

AN ADDED BONUS

Participants will also receive a complimentary PASS RE+Minder card kid. PASS stands for Panic, Anxiety, and Stress Support. These mindfulness cards are valued at $9.95. Our courses also include self-care giveaways thanks to our local partners.
