How MHFA training can help you:
- Will give you greater confidence in helping a person living with a mental illness
- Increase your knowledge of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and psychotic episodes
- Trains you how to respond to someone who may be experiencing these conditions using set action plans and crisis intervention strategies
- Decreases stigmatizing attitudes and makes the point that mental illness is a condition to be managed
- Improves the mental health of participants themselves
This is a certified training program from the Mental Health Commission of Canada and is part of The National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. This training is currently the only international mental health training program that is being delivered in 23 countries around the world.
What is included in the course:
The training will cover the following four topics:
- Substance Disorders and crisis first aid for overdosing
- Depression and Bi-Polar Disorders and crisis first aid for suicidal behavior
- Anxiety Disorders and crisis first aid for panic attacks & acute stress episodes
- Psychotic Disorders and crisis first aid for psychotic episodes
This course is also fully catered with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and refreshments both days. FREE parking too.
Who can take Mental Health First Aid?
This course really is meant for anyone. If you have a family member, friend, employee, or colleague who you think has a mental illness and you want to help – then this is the course for you! You do not need to have any prior experience or training in mental health.
We especially encourage that Human Resource Professionals, First Responders, and anyone who is a manager or supervisor to attend this training. It can be highly beneficial in your roles to assist your employees.
