Description

The evidence clearly shows that employee engagement enhances employee wellbeing and vice versa. Further, employee engagement enhances employee productivity and organizational performance.

The typical approach is to separate the two questions. Companies often promote wellbeing by focusing on lifestyle factors: for example, offering incentives to exercise or smoking cessation programs. And companies look at the question of promoting engagement by asking questions like "how can we better motivate employees?"

Kathleen Lane suggests that the best way to look at the Wellbeing / Engagement / Productivity question is by considering peoples' psychological needs. In the session, we'll look at how employers can promote wellbeing, engagement and productivity using simple concepts such as connection, respect, meaning and growth.
