Description

Empower The Future is excited to be a part of SFU and the City of Burnaby's Festival of Learning!

We know how stressed and anxious students are. We frequently received questions like "How do I manage working a part-time job and going to school full-time?" or "Is post-secondary school THAT stressful?" So, we decided to help them!

On Monday, May 7th, 2018, Empower The Future will be holding a mental wellness workshop called, Mental Wellness + You, at Burnaby Public Library from 4:00-5:30. Students are welcome to engage in a conversation with individuals about mental health! Be sure to register!

  • Learn about different mental illnesses, symptoms, and treatments

  • How to help someone who has a mental illness and/or is stressed

  • What are the types of stress situations that occur in post-secondary school/high school

  • Hear experiences from people who have mental illnesses or high stress situations

  • Develop skills to help manage stress like meditation, coloring, physical activity etc.

This is a free event supported by the Simon Fraser University, City of Burnaby, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and University of British Columbia - Science Undergraduate Society.

There will be:

  • Undergraduates speaking about their post-secondary experiences

  • Free drinks and snacks

  • Free resources packages

  • Prizes

Register by April 15th, 2018 to be entered into a draw to win a Starbucks prize pack!
