What's Messiah Queered?

It's a joyful, traditional sing-along of Handel's Messiah that is gender-inclusive. You're free to sing the chorus part that best suits your voice and spirit, or just listen to our live orchestra, vocal soloists, and choir.

I want to sing along! Where can I get the music?

You can download it at manitobamobilemusic.ca or use your own score (we'll be using the Novello edition).

Will there be an orchestra?

Yes! The orchestra will be conducted by Ken MacDonald, a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and he'll be joined by queer musicians and allies as well as invited students from the Dafoe Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba. Vocal soloists to be announced.

Come for a night of music and community (or sing along!) as we perform Handel's beloved oratorio at Messiah Queered.

Welcome to Messiah Queered! Join us at Grace Mennonite Church in Steinbach on December 7 at 7:00 PM for an engaging performance of Handel's beloved oratorio, "The Messiah". It's a traditional favourite, but our vocal soloists and choir have the option of singing any part that suits their voice and spirit. You can dress as you please and sing along, too! Download a vocal score at Manitoba Mobile Music or bring your own (we'll be using the Novello edition).
