Event description

Description

In this session, participants will explore effective strategies for creating a literacy rich classroom through playful, active learning and inquiry. By providing multisensory experiences, foundational skills may be taught through quality literature, music and movement, STEAM and dramatic play. Through research projects, students are encouraged to ask questions, seek answers, construct knowledge, record and express their ideas. In this way, even our youngest learners may be engaged in authentic literacy and empowered to see themselves as researchers, readers and writers. Instructional strategies and principles from Reading Recovery, Handwriting Without Tears and the Reggio Emilia approach will be discussed. Pre-K – Grade 2 Teachers, ECEs, Literacy Support Teachers
