Event Details

Presenter: Suzanne M. Simpson

Results from a thesis research project will be shared and will highlight the similarities and differences between urban, rural and northern school gardens in Manitoban elementary schools. Learn about the history of school gardens in Manitoba, what the peer-reviewed research suggests as best practices, and the benefits that gardening offers to students, teachers and the broader community. A session for teachers who are curious about gardening with their students as well as those more experienced teachers who are looking to network and imagine new garden solutions together.

****Please carefully review the following information prior to registering for sessions.***

The morning is a plenary session with Dr. Gillian Judson held at Joseph Teres School (main conference site). You are automatically registered for the morning plenary session once afternoon workshop registrations are submitted.

There is one morning off-site session this year and two afternoon off-site sessions. The rest of the sessions are held at Joseph Teres School. Please be aware of your session location when registering.

* All sessions are coded. Sessions with the "A" code are the first afternoon sessions (e.g META-A01). Sessions with the "B" code are the second afternoon sessions (e.g. META-B12). Please ensure that you are registered for only one "A" and "B" session when registering to ensure that you have a spot for both workshop slots.

How to register for workshops:

  1. If you are going to an off-site venue (i.e. META-A01 and META-A02), then you will have to register separately for these sessions as the prices and times vary from the sessions at Joseph Teres.
  2. For sessions at Joseph Teres, please decide if you want to become a META Member or Non-Member (please note, if you decide to be a META Member, then you are entitled to the registration discount)
  3. If you want to become a META member and register as a member, click on "META Members for Sessions at Joseph Teres School" then select an A and B session and process checkout.
  4. If you do not want to become a member and register for on-site workshops, click on "Non Members for Sessions at Joseph Teres" then select an A and B session and process checkout.

How our pricing works:

  • Keep in mind that our META membership fee is $20; this fee is already included in META conference pricing
  • A full day conference for META members is $50 [$20 membership fee + $15 am workshop + $15 pm plenary session =$50]
  • A half day fee for META members is $35 [$20 membership fee + $15 workshop fee = $35]
  • A full day conference fee for NON MEMBERS is $60
  • By choosing the Membership price you agree to become a member of META and are entitled to the discount conference fee.
