Metaphoenix presents: WHITEOUT

A fundraiser for the Metaphoenix art car

While Persephone’s absence from the mortal realm casts the world into winter doldrums, a great celebration rages in the underworld. Adorned in the brightest and whitest garments, guests bring light to the darkest regions of Hades. Join the good spirits in a tradition as old as time: the white-costumed ball.

Costume suggestions: Winter goddess, sexy yeti, ice giant, arctic fox, snow bunny. At The Axis Club, radically transformed into a winter wonderland.

Music by:

CΛZZTEK (Las Vegas)

We are overjoyed to welcome CΛZZTEK to Toronto, after two postponements due to lockdown and weather. A veteran of the Metaphoenix and Heavy Meta art cars, and husband of Nicky Genesis, CΛZZTEK is a giant of the bass house scene, with over 30 million plays across various platforms, massive sets at festivals like Shambhala and Ultra Music Festival, and huge releases on Atlantic Records, Spinnin Records, Confession, STMPDRCRDS, and Armada Music. His tunes are essential in any bass house and tech house arsenal, and we cannot wait to welcome him to The Axis Club for the first time.

Nicky Genesis (Las Vegas)

We are so excited to have Nicky Genesis rock a Toronto dancefloor for the first time since her iconic set at Metaverse 005 at 500 Keele in front of the stargate. Also a veteran of the Metaphoenix and Heavy Meta art cars, Nicky Genesis produces bass-driven house music with broad, eclectic samples and influences. Appearing at festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival and Shambhala, her releases on labels like Night Bass, No Definition, Pinnacle Collective, Glo, and Heavy Artillery, make her tunes indispensable for bass-heavy house DJs.

Justin Blaze (Nelson, BC)

Justin Blaze is one of the rare few who has been involved in all three of our collective's art cars, the Prodigal Swan, Heavy Meta, and Metaphoenix. He has spun his hard-driving, pop-influenced house music and mashups at events in abandoned Toronto warehouses, under bridges, and at the Nuit Blanche Renegade Parade. He has produced his own renegade events in Toronto under many names, co-produced countless more events, and recently rocked a crowd of thousands at Burning Man, sharing the stage with The Sponges on the Metaphoenix.

WHO IS METAPHOENIX

Metaphoenix is a Toronto- and Las Vegas-based art car collective. The team includes some of the same talented builders and makers from the Prodigal Swan art car and the Heavy Meta dragon art car, along with new welders and flame effects technicians from around the continent. The team has built a 50 foot-long metal phoenix mutant vehicle, a towering, fiery steel beast that represents rebirth after the flames of the pandemic. Read more here: https://www.metaphoenix.art
