About the Performers
Trio Los Laureles performs authentic Latin American folk music featuring virtuoso guitar, percussions and fiddle. Borrowing from genres and traditions such as the mariachi, Afro Cuban, Latin bolero, and many more, they craft each song with memorable arrangements that feature beautiful guitar melodies, infectious rhythms and stunning three part vocal harmonies.
It is formed by Emiliano Flores, Jaime Chinchilla, and Victor Bustamante. After their first year together, the trio has quickly become a staple of the multicultural music scene in Winnipeg, transporting listeners to idyllic and warm places in Latin America in each performance. While they work on recording their original songs on a first studio work produced by Chinchilla himself, the trio is focusing on a packed post pandemic calendar of what they insist in calling “Serenatas” (serenades).
Ana Aragon was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She studied music at the Fermatta Music Academy in Mexico City and at the Faculty of Music of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. As a professional singer, Ana participated as a finalist among the 25 best singers in Mexico in Latin American Idol in 2007.
She was the vocalist of the Gente Stelar Orchestra for 14 years in which she participated in many live projects and recordings with great artists including: Manuela Torres, La Sonora Santanera, La Sonora Dinamita, The Tampico Big Band, The Tampico Symphony Orchestra, Carlos Cuevas, Los Ángeles Negros and many other famous Mexican artists.
She moved to St Malo, Manitoba in July 2019. She is very happy to participate with the Mex y Can Association of Manitoba.
Andrea Cortes was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and has participated in various prestigious musical projects. She has obtained two awards for best vocal performance at the ASOMEX (Association of American Schools in Mexico) musical events. Andrea’s musical education is completely lyrical.
Andrea moved to Manitoba in March of this year. She is glad to be part of Mex Y Can .
