About the Performers

Trio Los Laureles performs authentic Latin American folk music featuring virtuoso guitar, percussions and fiddle. Borrowing from genres and traditions such as the mariachi, Afro Cuban, Latin bolero, and many more, they craft each song with memorable arrangements that feature beautiful guitar melodies, infectious rhythms and stunning three part vocal harmonies.

It is formed by Emiliano Flores, Jaime Chinchilla, and Victor Bustamante. After their first year together, the trio has quickly become a staple of the multicultural music scene in Winnipeg, transporting listeners to idyllic and warm places in Latin America in each performance. While they work on recording their original songs on a first studio work produced by Chinchilla himself, the trio is focusing on a packed post pandemic calendar of what they insist in calling “Serenatas” (serenades).

Ana Aragon was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She studied music at the Fermatta Music Academy in Mexico City and at the Faculty of Music of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. As a professional singer, Ana participated as a finalist among the 25 best singers in Mexico in Latin American Idol in 2007.

She was the vocalist of the Gente Stelar Orchestra for 14 years in which she participated in many live projects and recordings with great artists including: Manuela Torres, La Sonora Santanera, La Sonora Dinamita, The Tampico Big Band, The Tampico Symphony Orchestra, Carlos Cuevas, Los Ángeles Negros and many other famous Mexican artists.

She moved to St Malo, Manitoba in July 2019. She is very happy to participate with the Mex y Can Association of Manitoba.

Andrea Cortes was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and has participated in various prestigious musical projects. She has obtained two awards for best vocal performance at the ASOMEX (Association of American Schools in Mexico) musical events. Andrea’s musical education is completely lyrical.

Andrea moved to Manitoba in March of this year. She is glad to be part of Mex Y Can .

Ottmar de la Rosa , travelling all the way from Puebla Mexico to Winnipeg, Ottmar de la Rosa will bring a great show by impersonating your favourite Mexican singers.

Ottmar has over 20 years of experience in the show business. He has been the recipient of more than 10 national awards in Mexico for his artistic performances. Ottmar impersonates Vicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Marco Antonio Solis El Buki, Jose Jose, Joan Sebastian, Valentin Elizalde and many more. A show you do not want to miss!

DJ Leo Salsero and DJ Chilango have been bringing the joy of latin dance and music to Winnipeg since 2002.

Leo has danced in various salsa groups and competed while living in Chicago in 1999. After moving to Winnipeg, Leo founded Salsa Explosion Dance Company and became one of Winnipeg's largest Salsa promoters. He has been teaching salsa and bachata for the past 15 years.

DJ Chilango (Jorge Lopez) has participated with his brother Leo to bring the best of our latin music to Manitoba. You can see them at one of the famous Manitoba summer events: Salsa Sundays now at The Plaza in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.
