Event Information
Description
Join the CIC National Capital Branch at its next Politics @ the Pub event:
Mexico is grappling with perhaps unprecedented change and challenges, with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador launching ambitious social and economic reforms and relations with the U.S. in constant turbulence.
The CIC-NCB’s North America Study Group is pleased to welcome Ambassador Gómez Camacho for an evening of discussion on these developments, focusing on his country’s key domestic and international priorities and its path forward.
Ambassador Gómez Camacho was designated as Ambassador of Mexico to Canada by President López Obrador. He joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1988 and has served in a range of senior positions. He was most recently Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations from 2016 to 2019. His full biography can be found here.
David MacDuff, the founding chair of the North America Study Group, will open the program. Following the Ambassador’s remarks, David Halton, an author and formerly a long-standing CBC foreign correspondent, and Sara Hradecky, a retired Canadian diplomat whose career included serving as Ambassador of Canada to Mexico, will moderate a question and answer session with the audience.
