Event description

Description

An Archetypal Understanding of the Clinical situation and Symbolic Language of Dreams
Clinical Colloquium: Saturday May 26 @ 1:30 - 3:30PM

$50.00

It was Jung's understanding of the structuring capability of archetypes within the individual and collective life that has dramatically shifted our understanding of the unconscious. No longer can we view the unconscious solely through the lens of a personal unconscious, replete with the whims, decisions and influences of conscious intent. Instead, we move to an understanding of the self organizing nature of psyche and its inherent wisdom, often shaping a life in contrast to ones conscious will and intent. Jung clearly recognized that life is influenced by personal choices, yet is silently guided by the movements and needs of the Self striving for us to have a better life.
In looking at the unfolding of dynamics within the therapeutic relationship and in dreams, we see the utter power and profundity of The Self and its influence. This seminar will address the presence of Psyche and Self manifested in both the therapeutic relationship and in dreams. We will emphasize the need to move beyond personal conjecture and our subjective understanding of situations and dreams images, so as to capture the reality that the Self often speaks to us in a voice quite different from how we habitually see the world.
