Description

Microgrids: Energy, Inquiry, and Engineering workshop is a FREE two-day professional development training made possible by Snohomish County PUD and CE. The workshop schedule will be July 25 and 26, 9:00 am-3:30 pm both days. This inquiry-based, hands-on science and engineering training program offers a review of the science, technology, and classroom applications of clean energy applicable for all grade bands. Specifically, the content of this experience will center around the technology and implications of the Arlington Microgrid Project which began construction in 2018.

Workshop Partner: Snohomish County PUD

Snohomish County PUD is the second largest publicly owned utility in Washington. We serve over 350,000 electric customers and about 20,000 water customers. Our service territory covers over 2,200 square miles, including all of Snohomish County and Camano Island. The Arlington Microgrid and Clean Energy Technology Center project represents a new technology and approach that offers grid resiliency and renewable energy integration. The project will include a 500-kilowatt solar array with smart inverters, a 1,000 kW/1,000 kWh lithium-ion battery storage system and several vehicle-to-grid charging stations for use with the PUD's electric fleet vehicles.

Workshop Facilitator: CE is a national clean energy, career connected education program from Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Together with schools, educators and industry, we strive to build a clean energy future to ensure that our communities and the environment are thriving and resilient. We work to expand access to opportunities for all students regardless of their geography, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. CE is funded by corporations, regional utilities, and philanthropic organizations. To date, our funders have impacted more than 150,000 students nationwide through CE programming.
