Award winning singer-songwriter Mike McKenna Jr. has become a rising star on the Canadian music scene; with a raspy, soulful voice, his warm indie folk and Americana tones, and songs laden with captivating storytelling. Born in Glace Bay and raised along the Mira River, Mike's songwriting aesthetic points heavily to his roots growing up in small-town industrial Cape Breton. Mike’s newest record At The Edge of the World , which was engineered and produced by Victoria's own Quinn Bachand, continues to be met with incredible support both in Canada and internationally. The album has garnered Mike numerous nominations and awards including WINNER of the Rising Star Recording of the Year by the 2021 East Coast Music Awards.
Sharing the stage for an evening of unforgettable songs and stories will be Vancouver Island's own John Gogo, who in 1985 began playing his acoustic guitar in beer parlours and at folk festivals, releasing his debut album 'Coal & Wood' in 1990, which included original songs about his family's deep roots in mining and logging. Since then John has toured nationally, his music videos enjoyed rotation on MuchMusic & CMT. Over the years John has been involved in many artistic and theatre projects. The Victoria Times called John "one of the most talented singer/songwriters this area has ever produced" . John is poised to record a new album in 2023.
Mike and John will share the stage throughout the evening, trading songs and stories.
Doors open at 6 pm for dinner service, the concert starts at 7:30 pm
