Description

As part of the Orillia Jazz festival, the early life and music of the 20th century's legendary trumpet player and innovator Miles Davis will be celebrated. Special guest, Cuban-born trumpeter Alexander Brown Cabrera will join Lance Anderson (piano) and George Koller (Shuffle Demons) on bass, in this informative and musical performance of music from Kind of Blue, Milestones. Birth of the Cool, Footprints and more.

Juno award winning producer, Lance Anderson (who brought the Ellington and Basie show to the OJF last year) will play piano and in conversation, reveal insights into Miles as an artist and a man, through stories and anecdotes.

Alexander Brown (Cabrera)
Since his arrival in Canada, he has performed with Jane Bunnett, Hilario Duran, Archie Alleyne, DonThompson, Amanda Martinez, Luis Mario Ochoa, Adrew Graig, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Hermeto Pascual, Paquito de Rivera and many others. Alexander Brown Cabrera has become one of the most important Latin trumpet jazz players in Toronto. Since 2007 has been a member of the Evolution of Jazz Ensemble. He has travelled around the world and has a growing international reputation.
