Mind Your Life: How Mindfulness Can Build Resilience and Reveal Your Extraordinary

A free evening workshop with Meg Salter

Why do different people respond to similar stresses quite differently? Part of the answer lies in our own personal resilience. This ability to bounce back can make the difference between experiencing normal stress that encourages our growth and distress that renders us stuck or overwhelmed. How do we get to be the kind of person who, after an initial devastation or loss, can say, “It may have been the best thing that ever happened to me?”

Mindfulness can build resilience, expanding our inner resources like determination, self-worth and kindness. While resilience helps us recover from loss and trauma, it does much more than that. True resilience fosters well-being, an underlying sense of happiness, peace and love.

Mindfulness works like a vaccine that supports resilience for the mind and emotions. You undertake practices that can initially feel odd or counterintuitive. You practice in safe, low-risk ways, stimulating the recovery and growth mechanisms of the human mind and emotions. Meditating builds resilience muscles that are strong enough to kick in during stressful moments in life, when you need them the most.

Suitable for beginning or experienced meditators, in this session, you will:

  • Learn the difference between stress relief and mindfulness
  • Hone in on the specific resilience muscles that mindfulness can build
  • Experience a whole person approach to mindfulness, showing you how to make direct sensory contact with all of your feeling body and thinking mind
  • Find out ways to customize your mindfulness, integrating practice seamlessly into your day
