Annual Fall Retreat:

How Mindful Awareness and Self-Regulation Skills Support Living a Life of Excellence

with Har-Prakash Khalsa

Saturday Sept 29, 2018

Through guided meditations, teaching and interactive group exercise you will learn:

  • what mindful awareness is
  • how mindful awareness can free us from outdated conditioning and stuck energy
  • what self-regulation is and why it is essential
  • how skillfully managing your window of tolerance optimizes self-regulation
  • how self-regulation provides a platform for living a life of excellence

This retreat is suitable for all levels of mindfulness practitioners - from just starting out to advanced practitioners.

Har-Prakash Khalsa started meditation training in 1984, at the age of 24. He has participated in several neuroscience studies including spending 6 hours in a fMRI as an adept meditator in the 2012 Harvard Mindfulness study as part of the Mapping the Meditative Mind project.

Since the year 2000 Har-Prakash has studied an evolving modern mindfulness system developed by Shinzen Young. He is the producer of the YouTube channel expandcontract which features the teachings of Shinzen.

Har-Prakash is currently refining a 40-lesson curriculum titled Cultivating the Jewel of Mindfulness, a secular, systematic, science-friendly approach to facilitating a more skillful, mature and fulfilling human experience.

What his students say…

“Har-Prakash taught and inspired me to explore everything I know about mindfulness. I really appreciate his inclusivity of different worldviews, humour and showing us how mindfulness can be applied to our internal patterns, our relationships, and in our daily lives. Har-Prakash shares his deep, deep understanding of these things in kind, compassionate, joyful and engaging ways.”

“Har-Prakash’s enthusiasm and desire to share the benefits of mindfulness practice with students comes through and makes for a fantastic learning experience. He creates a safe space where we were able to share some pretty personal stuff, ask lots of questions until we got it, and be goofy together. The exercises were thoughtfully designed, creative and were ordered in a way so that we were discovering the lessons through Har-Prakash’s coaching rather than just being told what to learn – a much better, long-lasting way to learn!”

“I enjoyed every aspect of Har-Prakash’s teaching from his honesty and humour to his passion and generosity in sharing the teachings and depth of his mindfulness experience. I learned more this weekend about myself (and humans) than a whole undergrad degree in psychology and months of counselling. Har-Prakash created a safe and welcoming space and I felt supported and safe when pushing my own comfort zones.”

"Har-Prakash has profound competence as a meditation teacher. His expertise and mastery of these comprehensive teachings are offered with love, joy, humour, and humility.

In working with Har-Prakash I feel more competent and resourced in my personal life and in my professional capacity as a Mindfulness...Teacher and therapist seeking to help others live with beauty, joy, clarity, and purpose."
