Event description

Description

This is a 5 week class, once a week on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm to 4:0pm, at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Hotel Dieu Site, Adult Mental Health Program, Johnson5.

MAST is a short mindfulness workshop that teaches emotion regulation skills through mindfulness practices and learning about the mind-body connection.

This workshop introduces those living with anxiety, depression, pain etc. to techniques that they can build upon over the five sessions to gradually feel more balanced and present in their lives. The idea behind MAST is to teach short, tolerable practices that get easier over time and help calm the nervous system.

The workshop is open to anyone who believes that they could benefit from these techniques.

Many topics are covered, such as:

  • mindfulness skills
  • emotional regulation
  • stress and mindfulness
  • skills for emotional balance
  • understanding how our brains function when in distress
  • survival mode and the window of tolerance
  • how to stay safe when in distress
