A six-class course on advancing through your grief and loss with mindfulness

About this Event

Fall Edition

Make space for your grief and loss through the fall edition of Ottawa's only mindful grieving workshop. Registration is open to anyone experiencing grief, loss, or challenging times.

Join us throughout the months of September to October, 2019, for 12 hours of mindful meditation designed specifically for those working through loss and grief.

For some of us along the bereavement journey, being out in the world can feel overwhelming and alienating. We also understand that the tools and activities that can support us in this journey require us to bravely encounter the non-grieving world. Mindfulness can help.

Learn mindfulness meditation techniques in a safe and friendly environment, among others who are on a similar journey. Develop mindfulness skills that can support you throughout this journey, in whatever shape it takes and for however long you are on it.

This course is held at Metta Meditation and Movement Studio (www.mettamoves.ca) at 5 Hamilton Ave North, Ottawa, Ontario. Street parking is available in front of the studio. Please note that there is a small set of stairs at the entrance of the meditation space. Meditation cushions and chairs are available.

Pre-registration is required. Please purchase your ticket through Eventbrite. Refunds are available until August 29, 2019 at which point all sales are final.

Learning Outcomes

This course is designed to teach you mindfulness meditation techniques that can support you as your navigate your bereavement journey.

  • An understanding of the foundational attitudes of mindfulness and mindful breathing techniques
  • Learn to be aware of and manage the physical symptoms of grief and loss
  • Increase compassion toward yourself and others
  • Use mindful meditation techniques to honour your grief and loss
  • Develop the skills to bravely turn toward what is difficult and make space for it
  • Integrate meditation into your life by leaving the course with dozens of hours of guided and self-guided meditation practices that can support you in your journey.

Your Facilitator

Rebecca Ross is a local meditation teacher. Her teachings are centered on incorporating awareness into everyday life. Rebecca began her own journey into mindfulness to help with stress and anxiety and has a special focus in mindful grieving after unexpectedly losing a loved-one in 2014. Rebecca has studied with insight meditation teachers including Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach through the Awareness Training Institute and the Greater Good Science Center. Rebecca teaches workshops and drop in meditation classes throughout Ottawa.
