Event description
Help your team navigate through the changed landscape by providing resources to support their own stress responses.

About this Event

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has created an unexpected and tremendous amount of stress on Canadian businesses in a very short period of time. As the crises continues the impact has amplified employee concerns about their personal and professional well-being. With many employees now working from home for the first time, you can help them navigate the changing landscape by providing resources to support their own stress responses.

The research shows that establishing a mindfulness practice in your office, intentionally giving yourself and your team space to briefly pause, reflect and recharge, can help:

  • Reduce stress
  • Increase productivity
  • Promote creative solutions
  • Improve focus
  • Develop authentic engagement and communication

In this leadership session, we will focus on:

  • Demystifying mindfulness
  • Reviewing the supporting research
  • Applying mindfulness as a leader
  • Experiential practice of present moment awareness
  • Integration into the workplace

Jeff HolmesCertified Meditation Teacher | Organizational Change Strategist

I am a meditation teacher and certified Prosci organizational change manager. I teach mindfulness and change resilience skills that enhance performance and strengthen the response to stress, change, and uncertainty for leaders and employees. My background includes over 300 hours of training in meditation & mindfulness topics, classes and group practice with leading teachers in the field such as Deepak Chopra, Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Christiane Wolf and others. I maintain my practice through daily meditation, readings, reflection and bi-annual week long silent meditation retreats. Since 2017, I have offered in-person group mindfulness meditation sessions for the community in Victoria, British Columbia, for employees of the Province of British Columbia and globally online.

Your team may benefit from learning mindfulness practices to:

  • Decrease levels of stress and employee sick time
  • Increase levels of productivity and employee retention
  • Decrease or have more manageable conflict or disagreement
  • Create authentic levels of communication and appreciation
  • Generate more creative solutions to realizing business results
