Event description

Description

The journey of pregnancy is a Beautiful and Blissful time.

This workshop will guide expecting mamas to create their own 108 bead mala. The mala is called a japa mala, or prayer beads and is used to recite a prayer or a mantra. Mantras is simply translated as a tool for the mind. During pregnancy, cultivating stillness and mindfulness can create a deeper connection with baby and the journey into motherhood. Mala is a tangle tool used in meditation to recite a prayer, or mantra, a personal intention that vibrates through the body. The mala can act as your anchor, a way to connect and calm in times of stress and need.

Highly fragrant sandalwood beads from India will be used as the main bead. Sandalwood is said to promote energy, enthusiasum and personal self esteem. Mamas will be able to choose gemstones that speak to you. The guru, or main bead will be a bell charm or a Balinese harmony bell. At 20 weeks of gestation, it is said that baby in utero can hear sounds and find comfort in mamas voice. The malas will be long enough that the charm bell will be located near the navel. The soothing sound of the bell can calm baby. Tradition says that when baby is born, malas can be shortened or doubled to wear between the breasts so that baby can play while nursing or being fed. When moms continue to wear their personal mala, babies can hear the bell even though mom isn't in the room or speaking. This unspoken connection is beautiful and bonds mom and baby throughout childhood. It has also been said that the bell charms can be passed down.

Join Nicole, who is also expecting, for a journey to connect to personal intention during pregnancy, connection with baby and with other moms to be.

All supplies and light refreshments will be provided.

All participants will recieve a swag bag. Thank you to Justina Ma, bloom cookies, Mamata Holistics, Etch'd Design and modern gravity for their generosity.
