Mindful Self Compassion 8 week course Autumn 2017
Wed, 27 Sep 2017, 5:00 PM – Wed, 15 Nov 2017, 7:00 PM EDT
Ready for a change of heart? Transform how you relate to yourself and others.
The Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program was developed by Kristin Neff, a pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion (www.Self-Compassion.org) and Christopher Germer, PhD. Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional well-being. It boosts happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can even help maintain healthy lifestyle habits such as diet and exercise.
Most of us feel compassion when a close friend is struggling. What would it be like to receive the same caring attention whenever you needed it most? All that’s required is shift in the direction of our attention—recognizing that as a human being, you, too, are a worthy recipient of compassion.
All sessions are taught by Ottawa registered psychologist Dr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych..
Dr. Sogge is the former Chief of Psychology - Professional Practice at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, a Spirit Rock trained meditation teacher, and a recognized trained teacher with the Center for Mindful Self Compassion.
Course cost is for eight 2-hour sessions PLUS a one day Self Compassion Retreat.
Receipts are offered for insurance coverage by extended health insurance. Group sessions will take place Wednesdays at the Ottawa Collaborative Care Center in Centretown Ottawa, Canada.
