Mindful Self-Compassion – the Short Course (Online)

The past year has pushed us to dig deep into our inner resources to cope with the stress of a global pandemic! The good news is that mindful self-compassion is strongly associated with reducing anxiety & depression, strengthening emotional wellbeing, coping with life challenges, and supporting our personal relationships. The science also shows that it can be learned!

In this short course you will learn research-based concepts and powerful practices to cultivate self-compassion – and come to recognize that you, too, are worthy of kindness in times of struggle. You can more effectively motivate yourself with encouragement than you can with self-criticism. You will develop an inner resource that encourages you to treat yourself with the same care and comfort you offer to dear friends and loved ones. Research shows that increasing our self-compassion means we have even more compassion to offer others when they are suffering.

Activities include short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and home practices. This short version of MSC is an opportunity to explore how we typically respond when difficulties arise in our lives and to learn tools for becoming a warm and supportive companion to ourselves.

This program is designed for members of the general public, and is based on the values of equity, diversity, inclusiveness and belonging. Meditation experience is not necessary to participate. All are welcome!

I learned so many ways to care for myself when things get tough....The idea that self-compassion is quick and easy as we can practice it while we are on the go, was such a true eye-opener for me.
