Our instructor: Nasim Mahani
Nasim is a full time Occupational and Physical Therapy Assistant working at a rehabilitation hospital for over fifteen years. Nasim has worked with individuals who have sustained severe burns, electrical injuries, amputations, as well as other traumatic injuries. Nasim has also worked with clients experiencing neurological, orthopaedic, and other musculoskeletal injuries.
In 2019 Nasim graduated as a Yoga teacher YTT 200 from Jaya Yoga.
She has begun incorporating yoga in her work with the burn population. Nasim uses customized yoga poses and stretches to help clients work through physical challenges such as scar tightness and decreased range of motion. This has helped clients regain functional body alignment and improve recovery outcomes. She believes it is essential for her clients to understand the mind-body connection and how it impacts the healing process. Clients are guided to discover the interrelation between mind and body in order to think clearly, work through their trauma, and move towards acceptance.
Nasim's sessions will include gentle yoga, stretching, and breathing techniques. Classes will be in a calm, comfortable and inclusive environment where clients can feel safe and free from judgement.
