Are you a person who has an easier time taking care of others’ needs than your own? Do you have a strong inner critic? Do you have an intuitive sense that resting and responding with kindness to yourself would serve you, but you are not sure where to begin?

After this daylong introductory retreat, you will walk away with some tools for reconnecting to the healing resources in nature, ways to nourish and befriend yourself from a place of generosity and kindness, and motivating yourself with friendship and belonging rather than punishment. You’ll participate in experiential exercises, simple Awake in the Wild nature based meditation practices and sample practices from the empirically supported Mindful Self-Compassion curriculum. No meditation experience required. All are welcome! 

Specific practices we will explore the daylong will address:

  • Nature connection for healing: cultivation of awe and nourishing of the heart in nature;
  • Belonging with the more than human world: softening our disconnection and separateness generated in everyday technologically driven life;
  • Generosity and Self Kindness: relaxing into the support and compassionate presence of nature;
  • Recovering from Burnout: If you are a caregiver (clinician, therapist, parent, etc.),  rest, renew and learn ways to allow compassionate nature to support you in your work;
  • Creating experiences of savouring and delight: practicing ways to savor nourishing moments in nature and our lives.

This daylong Mindfulness with Nature practice retreat at the Gaia Wellness Centre (formerly Yoga Garden Retreat) in the beautiful surroundings of a private lake and the forests of Wakefield, Quebec, will strengthen core Awake in the Wild Nature Connection and MIndful Self Compassion practices for graduates of MSC courses, will introduce mindfulness practitioners to Awake in the Wild and MSC core meditations, and allow those with no mindfulness meditation, nature connection practice, or MSC experience an opportunity to gently experience the practices from contemporary meditation lineages.

This retreat will take place on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 9am to 4pm.  Cost will be $199 pp plus HST and includes a delicious catered vegetarian lunch.
