Description

Hello Friends/Colleagues,

You are receiving this message because you have expressed an interest in Mindful Living. Mindfulness Halton/Peel Professionals' Community is a non-profit organization dedicated to the principles of Mindful Living who meet every other month. We are happy to announce that our next guest speaker will be Michelle Brans, Founder and Clinical Director of Counting Butterflies, Child & Family Wellness! Michelle Brans MACP, is a writer and teacher on Holistic-Integrative Child and Family Mental Wellness. She has been dedicated to the field of child & family mental health for the past decade - working as a Consultant, Educator, and Mental Health Therapist in both the private and public health-care sectors since 2007.

Michelle will be hightlighting Mindfulness with Young Children, and will speak about the Mindup Curriculum https://mindup.org which she has used in their integrative model of Mental Wellness. Her daughter's school is also piloting the curriculum in the primary grades, and so will show how that is being rolled out.

Michelle holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology, and has received training and certifications in: Emotion-Focused Therapy; Mindfulness & Compassion-Based Therapy; Attachment & Developmental-Based Care; Holistic-Integrative Wellness; Ecopsychology and Nature-Guided Therapy; and Women's Wellness. Michelle's organization Counting Butterflies, which is located in Milton, is guided by The Butterfly Prescription to Mental Wellness ® to nurture the transformation and resilience of children, youth, and families, by fostering a deep connection to ones' self, others, and the natural world around them. She is currently providing Clinical Supervision and Consultation for Child & Family Therapists interested in holistic-integrative models of care. In 2016, she launched the Butterfly Project, which is a community-wide grassroots stewardship initiative aimed to reconnect children and families through mindful nature exploration; while honoring the symbolic meaning of the butterfly: hope and change. She lives with her husband, daughter, and animal-family on their ever-growing and vibrant Therapeutic Farm & Homestead in rural Ontario, Canada.

For those of you who are new to Mindfulness Halton/Peel Professionals' Community, these meetings are for members only, however you are welcome to come to check us out at no cost if it's your first visit. Otherwise, members pay an annual fee of $25 which covers the costs of the room rentals, small thank you gifts for the guest speakers and other nominal costs. We are a non-profit organization, volunteer-run and are a chapter under Mindfulness Ontario. Mindfulness Halton/Peel is not a training program for the public but is a group of professionals who are dedicated to bringing together like-minded professionals who practice Mindful Living both personally and professionally in some capacity. We meditate together, share relevant resources and support one another's intentions to continue to deepen our mindfulness practices and bring mindfulness into the community in a formal way.

Hope to see you there!

Warmly,

Mindfulness Halton/Peel Steering Committee
