Event Details

Exploring personal well-being, resilience & learning to increase your effectiveness in working with others.

We are pleased to offer this program for a second year.  This program is suitable for first year attendees continuing practice as well as those registering for the first time.

Mindfulness Meditation for Clinicians, Educators, and Front-line Workers

Giving attention may be the most potent skill a clinician or educator can offer. Our work is inspiring, and as the volume and intensity of our work increases, for many of us it can feel like a storm of client and institutional demands. How might we find a sense of calm and stillness among this turbulence?

This program will provide an opportunity to establish, continue and deepen a meditation practice within community peer support and exceptional guidance by todays leading meditation facilitators. Together we will explore personal well-being and resilience, while also learning specific skills to increase your effectiveness in working with others.

The course will commence and evolve with instruction and guidance in mindfulness meditation through lecture, group practice, discussion, and dynamic exercises to help participants build and strengthen a personal practice.

FACULTY

Brian Dean Williams (MA, RCC, CCC), is a meditation teacher from the Insight tradition, who is also a counselor in private practice in Vancouver. Brian teaches meditation widely in the lower mainland to clinicians and educators, including those working in the downtown eastside. Prior to entering private practice, Brian worked in the public social services sector at a drop-in centre for homeless youth, a day-treatment program for gang and criminally-involved youth, and with a housing-first mental health team assisting individuals with severe mental health and addictions to exit the downtown eastside. Brian is currently a trainer for the Mental Health Commission of Canada. www. briandeanwilliams.com

Shôken Michael Stone illuminates the ancient teachings and practices of Vipassana meditation,
yoga and Mahayana Buddhism for a postmillennial age.
